SEATTLE (AP) - Seattle police say a man was severely injured in a hatchet attack downtown.

The Seattle Police Department says witnesses told police a blue sedan pulled up to an intersection by at McDonald’s at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and that two men in the car started arguing with a crowd.

Police say one of the suspects was armed with a hatchet and a baseball bat and at some point during the argument, the suspect struck the man with the hatchet.

Police say the suspects fled the area in a blue sedan. It is unknown if the suspects and victim knew each other at this time.

The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives are investigating.
