EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (AP) - The Rhode Island Ethics Commission is extending its investigation into whether the East Greenwich town manager violated state ethics laws.
The Providence Journal reports the commission agreed Tuesday to continue its investigation into Gayle Corrigan’s hiring of her business associate to oversee town and school finances for 60 days.
Corrigan had hired her Providence Analytics associate Linda Dykeman as consolidated finance director and business manager in East Greenwich at a salary of $127,500.
Resident and retired police Capt. William Higgins filed the original complaint over the hiring, and the commission launched an investigation in January.
Corrigan is also facing a separate investigation over an alleged violation of state financial disclosure laws.
Her lawyer could not be reached for comment.
