LAS VEGAS (AP) - Attorneys for Democratic candidate for governor Steve Sisolak have issued a letter demanding that Nevada television stations stop airing campaign ads from a state teachers union that he says are misleading.

Sisolak is the chairman of the Clark County Commission and is locked in a tight primary battle with his commission colleague Chris Giunchigliani.

The political arm of the Nevada State Education Association has endorsed Giunchigliani and is running ads with the logos of news organizations topped with headlines that say Sisolak “killed new funding for schools” and voted for development near a conservation area “after taking campaign cash.”

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Sisolak’s attorneys say the ads are misleading because they are not the headlines the news organizations used.

Union lawyer Sue Matuska says the news logos were used to show where information came from.
