The NHL Department of Player Safety announced Monday that the Washington Capitals’ Michal Kempny will be fined $2,419.35 for cross-checking the Tampa Bay Lightning’s Cedric Paquette in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals on Sunday.
The amount represents the maximum fine allowed by the league’s collective bargaining agreement.
Kempny was sent to the penalty box for this cross-check on the Tampa Bay center:

He will not be suspended for any length of time. The Capitals lead the series 2-0 after winning both games in Tampa.
