NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Police in Nashville say three people have been cited during a protest at the headquarters of a private corrections contractor.

Nashville Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron says the three were issued misdemeanor citations Thursday at CoreCivic.

Aaron says 46-year-old Jeannie Alexander and 30-year-old Patrick Bigg were charged with criminal trespassing and 40-year-old Dami Feral was charged with assault. Aaron did not specify their hometowns.

Aaron says Alexander and Bigg crossed a line set up on company property, assembled and sat down in a makeshift jail cell and refused to move. While a security officer tried to stop them, Feral allegedly threw a substance resembling fake blood on the officer.

Aaron says about 35 people participated in the protest.
