MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The Democratically controlled Vermont Legislature is hoping to wrap up the session although potential vetoes by the Republican governor could bring them back to Montpelier for more work.
Lawmakers are returning to the Statehouse on Saturday. They hope to complete work on the tax and budget bills.
Gov. Phil Scott has said he will veto the tax bill, in addition to the minimum wage and paid family leave bills. He also isn’t pleased with the state budget plan.
Earlier this month Scott proposed an education funding proposal that would use $58 million in one-time money to avoid a tax rate increase but legislative leaders say that’s fiscally irresponsible.
