BOSTON (AP) - U.S. Sen. Edward Markey is leading a bipartisan group of senators calling on the Federal Labor Relations Authority to end efforts to close its Boston regional office until Congress can weigh in.
The group outlined their concerns in a letter sent Tuesday to Federal Labor Relations Authority Chairman Colleen Duffy Kiko.
The group said that by closing it seven regional offices, the authority would place staff farther away from those who rely on them to safeguard the rights of federal employees.
The letter was also signed by: Maine Republican Susan Collins and independent Angus King; Vermont independent Bernie Sanders; and Democrats Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Sheldon Whitehouse and Jack Reed of Rhode Island, Connecticut’s Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, Bob Casey of Pennsylvania and Delaware’s Tom Carper and Chris Coons.
