GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) - Graeme Murty has been fired as Rangers manager amid speculation that Liverpool great Steven Gerrard is set to take charge of the Scottish club.
Murty has been interim manager since October and his last game was Sunday’s 5-0 loss to Celtic, a result that clinched the Scottish Premiership title for Rangers’ biggest rival.
Rangers says the club “hopes to be in a position to comment further on the managerial situation in the near future.”
Gerrard, who retired from playing in November 2016, has been Liverpool’s youth-team manager for the past year.
