DANVERS, Mass. (AP) - Danvers fire officials say an industrial worker has died from severe injuries sustained from falling off a ladder at his job site.

The Boston Globe reports the man was installing or servicing a piece of equipment Tuesday when he fell. Danvers Deputy Fire Chief Robert Amerault says he is unsure of how far the man fell, and that he was between 35 to 40 years-old.

Danvers police and fire responded to the accident before 9 a.m. and found the man conscious. He died in flight to Beverly Hospital when his condition worsened.

Amerault says the man was not an employee of ITW Devcon, the polymer manufacturing company located at the address of the fall. State occupational safety officials have opened an investigation into the accident.
