DETROIT (AP) - Police and firefighter uniforms taken by thieves who stole two cargo vans from outside a Detroit dry cleaning business have been recovered.
Farmington Hills police say their uniforms were found Friday morning dumped in dry cleaning bags along a Detroit street. Novi police say their missing firefighter and police uniforms also were recovered from the roadside.
The theft was reported about 3:30 a.m. Friday following a break-in by at least two people at the west side business. The uniforms were in the vans.
Farmington Hills and Novi are northwest of Detroit.
Novi police Chief David Molloy told WWJ-AM that the thieves may have wanted to steal the vans and likely weren’t targeting uniforms. Police are seeking tips from the public.
