SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Authorities say a Ranchos De Taos man has been accused of his sixth DWI after his pickup truck rammed a New Mexico State Police car.
Police say 60-year-old Alex Vigil was booked into the Santa Fe County Detention Center on Tuesday and he’s also facing charges of aggravated battery upon a peace officer and resisting/evading a police officer.
State Police say a citizen called to report a suspected drunk driver on Interstate 25.
An officer saw the truck pulling a flatbed trailer drive into a freeway rest stop area south of Santa Fe.
But before the officer could get out of her vehicle, she says Vigil put his truck in reverse, accelerated, and deliberately rammed the State Police car.
It was unclear Wednesday if Vigil has a lawyer yet.
