BALTIMORE (AP) - Authorities say an ambulance was struck by gunfire in Baltimore.
Baltimore police spokesman Jeremy Silbert tells The Baltimore Sun that the ambulance was in the area on an unrelated call Wednesday morning, and that one unidentified man had been taken into custody. Fire department spokeswoman Blair Skinner said no medics were injured, but declined to say why the ambulance was in the area, which the newspaper says breaks with the precedent around such requests.
Silbert says no gunfire victims had been located.
The president of the local fire and EMS union, Dickie Altieri, said the union is working with the fire and police departments to figure out what transpired. The union has previously expressed concerns about medics’ safety on calls in the city.
