PHOENIX (AP) - Federal authorities say a California man arrested in Arizona has been charged with being a fugitive in possession of a firearm.

FBI officials say 30-year-old Ryan Smith Hagel of San Luis Obispo was indicted on Feb. 28.

The indictment stems from a traffic stop made by the La Paz County Sheriff’s Office.

Hagel was a passenger in the vehicle when it was stopped on Interstate 10 near Ehernberg, Arizona.

The FBI says that among the items recovered from the vehicle were seven firearms including two high powered rifles and five handguns, nearly 2,900 rounds of ammunition, 60 loaded rifle and handgun magazines and three sets of body armor.

Hagel also is facing Arizona charges of misconduct involving weapons for allegedly failing to report the firearms when questioned by sheriff’s deputies.
