BALTIMORE (AP) - Residents of an assisted-living facility in Baltimore were left without power for more than three days amid last week’s powerful wind storm.
Peregrine Senior Living Executive Director Chuck Griffith tells The Baltimore Sun that the power went out Friday afternoon, and several calls to a customer service line were met with no response over the weekend.
BGE spokesman Justin Mulcahy says power was restored to elder-care center on Tuesday afternoon.
The three-story facility serves 44 residents with dementia and other memory problems. Griffith said the power outage knocked out the elevators, and the amount of time it took to restore it was “frustrating.”
Mulcahy said in a statement that BGE does prioritize assisted-living residences during widespread power outages, but its first priorities are public safety and critical care facilities.
