Washington Wizards guard John Wall did some “light shooting” Tuesday for the first time since his knee surgery.
Wall, 27, has been out since Jan. 27 with a knee injury and underwent a knee scope four days later in Cleveland. He is five weeks into his projected 6-8 week timetable.
“Moved around pretty good,” coach Scott Brooks, noting his workout included some movement as well. “Not a lot of reps, but got a good sweat, good workout. It’s another step in the progress of his return. We’ll see how he feels tomorrow.”
The Wizards are 10-6 in Wall’s latest absence. They rode an 8-2 streak into the All-Star break, but have struggled lately. They entered Tuesday’s game against the Miami Heat on a three-game losing streak, their longest of the season.
Washington has downplayed any discussion about being better without Wall. The Wizards have emphasized sharing the ball more without Wall on the court.
Wall has played in only 37 games this season, averaging 19.4 points and 9.3 assists. Despite missing time, he was named an All-Star before being replaced by Detroit’s Andre Drummond.
