LAS VEGAS (AP) - County lawmakers in Las Vegas have scratched the idea of barbershops as bars and salons as saloons.
The Las Vegas Sun reports that Clark County commissioners on Tuesday killed a beer-and-wine-sales proposal that Commissioner Lawrence Weekly had said had backing from business owners and customers.
The proposal would have allowed patrons to buy and consume beer and wine while getting their hair cut.
Commission Chairman Steve Sisolak says there are just too many questions about the responsibility for distribution, sales and marketing drinks at the hairdresser.
Seven states allow alcohol service at salons, barbershops and spas, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. Nevada is not one of them.
California began allowing free beer or wine in 2016. Maryland, Mississippi, Utah, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia have similar laws.
