The biggest faker of all is none other than President Donald Trump. He is only posing as a conservative. In 1999 he proposed that the Congress pass a new “national wealth tax” of 14.25 percent on all individuals with a net worth/net wealth (not income) of $10 million and higher. That is a very liberal idea.

He wanted the money generated by the tax to be spent on two items: 1. Totally eliminating the national debt (that sounds conservative) and 2. Making the Social Security Trust Fund more solvent for additional years (that does not sound conservative).

However, the fund is at present fully solvent through the year 2034. This means there is no reason to cut benefits right now (which the less than totally truthful conservatives do not want the public to know).

Mr. Trump has been manipulating all of us and playing both his supporters and his critics for fools.
