INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) - The owner of Southern California’s Forum arena is suing the city of Inglewood for making a deal to possibly build a new arena for the Los Angeles Clippers down the street.
The fraud and breach-of-contract suit was filed Monday.
The City Council last year approved a negotiating agreement with the Clippers that could lead to construction of an arena for the NBA team across from a future stadium that will be home to the NFL’s Chargers and Rams.
The arena owner, Madison Square Garden Company, contends in the suit that negotiations to build a competitive arena violate terms of the Forum’s contracts with Inglewood.
Inglewood officials didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
