NEW HARMONY, Utah (AP) - A tire and auto repair shop along Interstate 15 in southern Utah has been ordered to pay $10,000 for not telling customers the full cost of repairs.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports this is the second time the Utah Division of Consumer Protection levels fines against Freeway Tire in New Harmony.
An administrative law judge last week found the business in one case gave a Wyoming driver an estimate for $575 but later issued an invoice for more than $1,300.
Regulators last year first fined the company $15,000. They later suspended half the fine on the condition that the business follows all state consumer protection laws for three years.
Regulators have since asked for the business to pay the entire first fine. Owner Michael Heath is appealing.
Heath’s attorney did not return calls from the newspaper seeking comment Thursday.
