CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - University of Illinois baseball fans will be able to buy beer at the Illini’s game against Ohio State in a test run that could mean expanded alcohol sales at Illini sport venues in the future.

The school’s Division of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the play Thursday for the May 4 game, which will be the only game this season where beer is sold. The (Champaign) News-Gazette reports that beer will be sold and only allowed in a fenced-in tent area. Sales will be limited to fans aged 21 and older.

Spokesman Kent Brown says the school is “going to try it out one game and kind of see how it goes.”

Illini football fans have been able to buy beer for the past two year in a fenced-in tailgate area outside Memorial Stadium.
