BAYTOWN, Texas (AP) - Police at a Houston-area school have detained a 15-year-old boy who was found with a loaded gun on campus and reported by other students.
Officials with the Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District say no one was harmed Friday at Ross S. Sterling High School in Baytown. Classmates who learned the freshman had a gun notified school authorities.
District spokeswoman Beth Dombrowa says the teen never made threats and there’s no indication that he intended to harm anyone. She says district police took the juvenile, whose name wasn’t released, into custody without incident. Authorities didn’t immediately say how other students became aware that the teen was armed.
Baytown police on Saturday referred questions to school police, who didn’t immediately return messages.
Baytown is 20 miles (32 kilometers) east of Houston.
