There are so many mock drafts published every week that it’s worth taking a macro view and checking to see if any two analysts currently agree on the Washington Redskins’ No. 13 pick. Simply, that answer is no.
Most of this sampling of 10 mock drafts give Washington a defensive player, but that’s about where the similarities end. Ten mock drafts yield 10 different players for the Redskins.
• Peter Schrager, NFL.com, March 29: LB Tremaine Edmunds, Virginia Tech.
• R.J. White, CBS Sports, March 29: G Isaiah Wynn, Georgia.
• Mel Kiper Jr., ESPN, March 28: DT Vita Vea, Washington.
• Walter Cherepinsky, WalterFootball.com, March 28: CB/S Minkah Fitzpatrick, Alabama.
• Lance Zierlein, NFL.com, March 27: S Derwin James, Florida State.
• Will Brinson, CBS Sports, March 27: CB Denzel Ward, Ohio State.
• Nick Kosmider, Denver Post, March 27: WR Calvin Ridley, Alabama.
• Charles Davis, NFL.com, March 22: LB Roquan Smith, Georgia.
• Chad Reuter, NFL.com, March 20: WR D.J. Moore, Maryland.
• Bucky Brooks, NFL.com, March 19: CB Mike Hughes, Central Florida.
The secondary is the dominant unit in this list, with Fitzpatrick, Ward and Hughes all suggested as potential replacements for former No. 2 cornerback Bashaud Breeland.
It’s hard to know each analyst’s process. How much insider knowledge of teams’ opinions of prospects does each analyst have, if any, and how much are mocks based on that as opposed to personal opinion?
For what it’s worth, there is one small agreement. The longtime draft analyst Kiper and our Matthew Paras are of one mind on Vita Vea, whom Paras picked for the Redskins last week in our debut mock.
