Is it “Gronk meets Mad Max” or “Patriot joins Patriot”?

Mel Gibson’s upcoming movie “Boss Level” has reportedly signed New England Patriots star Rob Gronkowski for an acting role alongside stars Frank Grillo and Naomi Watts.

The announcement seems to settle rumors that the star tight end is seriously looking ahead for a career after football.

“As legend has it, Dwayne ’The Rock’ Johnson and Sylvester Stallone have encouraged New England Patriots star Rob Gronkowski to give Hollywood a shot this off-season, and it appears the tight end has listened,” the Tracking Board website reported in an exclusive published Tuesday.

Joining up with the director of “Braveheart,” “The Passion of the Christ,” and “Hacksaw Ridge” lends a level of credibility to Gronkowski’s efforts that bit parts in movies like “Entourage” and “You Can’t Have It” did not provide.

The Internet Movie Database synopsis of “Boss Level,” which is now filming, references a retired special forces officer who “is trapped in a never ending time loop on the day of his death.”
