NAMPA, Idaho (AP) - Officers fatally shot a man suspected of killing one woman and seriously wounding two others at a Nampa house, authorities said.
Nampa police received reports Tuesday morning about a disturbance and stabbing at the home.
The suspect and the deceased woman were in a relationship that had been “deteriorating” for some time, Canyon County Sheriff Kieran Donahue said.
“Domestic violence is one of the most prevalent calls that our officers, any law enforcement officer goes on,” he said.
The two other women were hospitalized with “very serious wounds,” but are expected to survive, Donahue said.
Authorities are waiting to notify next of kin before releasing the names of the victims and the suspect.
The two officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave, according to Nampa Police Chief Joe Huff.
Officials are not yet releasing officers’ names or saying if there is footage from their body cameras. It is standard protocol for Nampa Police officers to wear a body camera, Donahue said.
Donahue did not specify which type of weapon the suspect had. Police made contact with him upon entering the house shortly after arriving on scene. At least one officer fired a weapon, fatally injuring the suspect.
Nampa Fire and Canyon County Paramedics also quickly arrived on scene.
No first responders were injured during the incident.
