Entertainer Donald Glover suggested to his millions of fans Wednesday that jokes about white people and President Trump may have doomed his animated series at FX.

“Creative differences” were blamed last weekend for FX’s decision to part ways with the same man who an Emmy for his directorial work on the network’s show “Atlanta.” The project, a Marvel animated series of the popular character “Deadpool,” was supposed to be executive produced by Mr. Glover and his brother, Stephen.

Mr. Glover, seemingly speaking through the character in a script titled “Finale,” floats the idea that racism and a fear of alienating white viewers derailed the series.

“You know, I’m not mad about this whole ’cancelled’ thing,” the script reads. “I actually think it’s a good thing. I mean, is it even a good time to have a violent, gun loving white man ranting on TV? (hard sell) Other than the PRESIDENT! … Do you think they cancelled the show … cause of racism?!”

Mr. Glover’s script also uses the main character to wonder if the rift with FX was caused by creative jabs at Marvel Entertainment.

“The Marvel stuff I said in it? All I said was Marvel was trying to sell toys to seven year old boys and fifty year old pedophiles,” the script reads. “That’s just funny. They’re cool. They get it.”

The Hollywood Reporter noted that Mr. Glover’s dialogue for the character coincided with his public statements regarding the network.

“Glover’s opinions shared via Deadpool echoes a similar, recent interview Glover gave about ’Trojan-horsing’ FX and needing a ’white translator’ with his series Atlanta, where he said: ’If I told them what I really wanted to do, it wouldn’t have gotten made.’”

Marvel declined to comment for THR’s story.

The 34-year-old actor, producer and singer-songwriter is also set to star in the May 25 release of “Solo: A Star Wars Story.”
