PROVO, Utah (AP) - Health officials say more than 40 people were diagnosed with hepatitis A in Utah County since the outbreak began late last year.
The Daily Herald reports the Utah County Health Department has not received a new report of the disease since last month.
Department health officials say thousands of people were potentially exposed during a few days in late December after two separate restaurant workers were diagnosed.
Department public information officer Aislynn Tolman-Hill says the workers’ places of employment were verified on Jan. 8, and the public was alerted the next day.
Tolman-Hill says more than 6,600 people used the county’s online assessment and about 1,200 people called the phone bank. More than 1,700 people received vaccinations from the department during the three days following the alert.
