TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy says a person reported to have died in an accident during the snow storm is actually in the intensive care unit.
Murphy said at a news conference in Woodbridge Thursday that initial reports indicated an accident on Interstate 78 resulted in a fatality. He says the person remains in the ICU, but didn’t give additional details.
Separately, Toms River police said an 87-year-old woman with dementia and Alzheimer’s was found dead in the snow Thursday morning.
Murphy also says about 70,000 utility customers remain without power in New Jersey following the fourth major storm to hit the state in three weeks.
The storm dropped around a foot of snow in some parts before leaving the region Thursday, with central Jersey seeing the highest amounts.
