SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - The Latest on the race for California attorney general (all times local):
6 p.m.
Attorney General Xavier Becerra’s campaign says he’s been “fighting and winning” for California while his opponents make “empty promises.”
Campaign manager Dana Williamson is responding to criticism of Becerra during a debate between his three opponents. She says Becerra was not at the Wednesday debate because he was returning from business in Washington after a Supreme Court argument the day before.
Republicans Eric Early and Steven Bailey and Democrat Dave Jones hit Becerra for focusing too much on the Trump administration.
Williamson says he’s achieved victories against Trump and focused on other issues, including getting guns off the street and defending young immigrants. She says his opponents are criticizing him to “score cheap political points.”

Attorney General Xavier Becerra’s opponents are accusing him of being too “obsessed” with fighting the Trump administration.
Republicans Steven Bailey and Eric Early and Democrat Dave Jones debated Wednesday. Becerra was not there due to what his office said was a scheduling conflict. He was in Washington on Tuesday for a Supreme Court case, and his office didn’t immediately comment on whether he was still there at the time of the debate.
The primary is June 5.
Jones said Becerra’s focus on Trump means he’s not doing enough to take on oil companies, seize guns from people who shouldn’t have them and tackle the opioid crisis.
The Republicans, meanwhile, accused Becerra of being soft on immigration and crime and criticized his battle against the Trump administration’s proposed border wall.
