CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - A lawyer in private practice with previous experience as a state prosecutor is Republican Gov. Chris Sununu’s pick to serve on the state Supreme Court.

Sununu says he will nominate Patrick Donovan, of Salem, at Wednesday’s Executive Council meeting.

Donovan, whose legal career spans 28 years, current owns his own firm and focuses on civil and criminal litigation. He previously served as legal counsel to the New Hampshire House of Representatives and as a senior assistant attorney general.

Donovan was selected from a list of candidates approved by a bipartisan judicial selection commission. Sununu says Donavan’s diverse experience will provide a well-rounded perspective on the state’s highest court.
