Former Washington Redskins cornerback Bashaud Breeland won’t be joining the Carolina Panthers, and will instead be a free agent.
Breeland failed his physical after suffering a non-football injury in the offseason. Earlier in the week, Breeland had agreed to a three-year, $24 million deal with $11 million guaranteed.
The NFL Network reported Breeland suffered a cut on his foot and won’t be able to pass a physical “for months.”
Breeland, 26, becomes the second former member of the Redskins to fail his physical.
On Thursday, wide receiver Ryan Grant saw his four-year, $29 million deal become null and void when doctors from the Baltimore Ravens failed his physical, citing an ankle injury. Grant was independently cleared by Dr. Robert Anderson, ESPN reported.
Breeland and Grant both spent four seasons with the Redskins, being drafted in 2014.
