SEATTLE (AP) - In a story March 12, about a lawsuit over how the Washington legislature changed a law on police use of deadly force, The Associated Press quoted state Sen. Maralyn Chase, D-Edmonds, as saying the measure “takes precedence over what the Constitution says about initiatives.” The story should have included the full quote, which was, “It takes precedence over my preference on what I think that the Constitution says about initiatives, and I’m persuaded that this is a legitimate way to go about it.”
