The World Series champion Houston Astros visited the White House and met with President Trump Monday.

“After the devastating Hurricane Harvey, incredible that with what you went through that you’re the champions,” Trump said. “It’s a really befitting tribute, what was really a show of world spirit and ’Houston strong.’ “

Trump also told Astros manager A.J. Hinch he had become very famous for his “skippering,” drawing a laugh.

Two Astros, Carlos Correa and Carlos Beltran, were absent from the proceedings. Both players hail from Puerto Rico, and Beltran has been critical of the government’s response to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

But Beltran told reporters politics did not factor into his choice not to attend. Correa has not yet given a reason either way.

Trump mentioned hurricane relief in his remarks at the Astros visit, mentioning Puerto Rico specifically.
