SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Authorities say an arrest has been made in the killing of a man whose body was found near a road north of Springfield.

The Greene County Sherriff’s Office says 23-year-old Adam Phillips, of Springfield, was arrested Friday night. Investigators say Phillips is suspected in the shooting death of 48-year-old Shone Swearingin, of Strafford.

Swearingin’s body was round around 3:30 a.m. Friday near WW Highway, just east of Missouri 13.

Sheriff Jim Arnott had said Friday that Swearingin was last seen Thursday night in Springfield by an officer. Arnott did not detail the nature of the officer’s contact with Swearingin.
