SEATTLE (AP) - Tuition at the University of Washington will increase by $218 next school year for undergraduate students from the state.

The Seattle Times reports the university’s board approved the 2.2 percent increase Thursday.

The tuition will be $10,127 for students at the university’s campuses in Seattle, Bothell and Tacoma.

A 2015 state law limits tuition for public universities from rising faster than the state’s median hourly wage.

Tuition for undergraduate students from outside the state will increase by 3 percent to $35,508. Out-of-state tuition is not affected by the state law.

Students also pay more than $1,000 in fees at all three campuses that cover student activities, technology and other items. New students pay an enrollment and orientation fee that ranges from $100 to $310.
