ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A woman who says she was sexually harassed by the former head of the New York state forensics office has filed a federal discrimination complaint against the state.
The Albany Times Union reports Kimberly Schiavone says she was harassed and subjected to gender- and age-based discrimination at the Department of Criminal Justice Services, where she is a program manager.
She says agency officials didn’t act when she and other DCJS employees complained about the behavior of her boss, forensics office director Brian Gestring. The workers say the mistreatment started soon after he was hired in July 2016.
Gestring was fired in March for what DCJS officials say was a matter unrelated to his alleged mistreatment of employees.
Gestring has denied harassing anyone.
A DCJS official says the agency can’t comment on ongoing litigation.
