LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities in Las Vegas have identified a 40-year-old man who police say was shot and killed by his girlfriend’s brother when he tried to choke his 3-week-old baby.

The Clark County coroner’s office said Tuesday that Reginald Toureau died May 29 of multiple gunshot wounds.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the infant also was critically injured by a bullet that went through Toureau’s body, but is expected to survive.

The man police say fired the shots has not been identified and has not been charged with a crime.

Police said the child’s mother was also in the apartment east of downtown Las Vegas when the shooting occurred.
