WASHINGTON (AP) - A West Wing aide who dismissed the concerns of cancer-stricken Sen. John McCain could resurface in a new role after leaving her White House job.
Kellyanne Conway, a counselor to President Donald Trump, told reporters Wednesday that former aide Kelly Sadler would be eligible for a variety of open administration jobs “if that’s the position she decides to take her career.”
Conway declined to address reports that Sadler no longer works at the White House because she leaked information or accused colleagues of leaking.
Sadler told colleagues at a private meeting last month that they should ignore McCain’s opinion about Trump’s CIA nominee because “he’s dying anyway.”
The White House declined to publicly apologize. The 81-year-old McCain is fighting brain cancer.
Sadler apologized privately to the McCain family.
