JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - The Latest on new Missouri Gov. Mike Parson (all times local):

A Republican lawmaker has resigned to work for new Missouri Gov. Mike Parson.

Hermann Rep. Justin Alferman stepped down from his seat Monday. He says he’ll do legislative and budgetary work for Parson.

Parson took office Friday shortly after former Gov. Eric Greitens resigned rather than continuing to fight possible impeachment and allegations of personal and political misconduct.

Parson also is a Republican but was elected separately from Greitens.

Alferman served as vice chairman of the House Budget Committee before his resignation.

Republican Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft’s former deputy chief of staff also is going to work for the new Republican governor. Steele Shippy now is Parson’s communications director.

New Missouri Gov. Mike Parson says he wants to work with the cabinet members picked by former Gov. Eric Greitens.

Parson on Monday told reporters outside his capitol office that he doesn’t anticipate any changes to the cabinet now he’s governor.

Parson assumed leadership shortly after Greitens opted to resign Friday evening rather than continue fighting possible impeachment and allegations of personal and political misconduct.

Both are Republicans but won office independently of each other.

Greitens was a self-described political outsider and named department leaders from across the country, including some who served in similar government positions and others from the private sector.

Parson says Greitens brought in a good team.
