DODGEVILLE, Wis. (AP) - Wisconsin-based Lands’ End has made new uniforms for Delta Air Lines’ employees, replacing the navy-and-red outfits they’ve worn for 30 years with purple attire.

Delta’s 64,000 employees debuted the uniforms worldwide May 29, the Wisconsin State Journal reported . The outfits, in a color that Delta has dubbed “Passport Plum,” were created by designer Zac Posen.

“These uniforms were built to keep Delta employees safe, comfortable and always ready to fly,” Lands’ End CEO Jerome Griffith said.

The Delta project is Lands’ End largest so far in both number of people to be outfitted and revenue generated, said Joe Ferreri, the senior vice president and head of Lands’ End Outfitters.

“It means a lot to us,” Ferreri said. “It shows off not just the legendary service that we’re known for but also the quality of the apparel that we manufacture.”

Delta and Lands’ End signed the agreement in 2016. The company has declined to disclose the contract’s financial value.

Delta employees played a large role in the design process, with 1,000 employees testing out uniforms for three months, the airline said. The design team made 170 alterations following focus groups, job shadowing and recommendations from more than 30,000 surveys, the airline said.

Lands’ End also offered fitting clinics for 10,000 to 20,000 Delta employees around the world.

“Our team traveled all over the country, to the United Kingdom, Hawaii and Asia,” Ferreri said. “It was just remarkable.”

Lands’ End also will also provide uniforms for American Airlines employees and Alaska Airlines.

The company was founded in 1963. They create casual clothing, accessories and home products. The company reported $1.4 billion in revenue last fiscal year and had a net income of $28.2 million.
