WILLINGTON, Conn. (AP) - U.S. Housing Secretary Ben Carson will visit Connecticut to tour one of many homes plagued by crumbling foundations.
Carson’s visit is set for Monday. He’ll be joined by U.S. Sens. Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal, U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman.
Carson will tour the Willington home of Maggie and Vincent Perracchio. It’s one of an estimated 30,000 or more houses in eastern and central Connecticut with failing foundations blamed on the mineral pyrrhotite that was in concrete mixtures.
The state’s congressional delegation has been working with the Trump administration to try to get aid for repairs.
Carson also will speak with Hartford residents whose apartment complex is affected by the federal government’s termination of a contract with the landlord over health and safety issues.
