President Trump said Friday that he plans to make a Supreme Court pick by July 9 and will interview one or two candidates this weekend.

“I’ve got it narrowed to about five,” Mr. Trump said during an Air Force One flight to New Jersey where he’ll spend the weekend at one of his golf clubs.

The short list includes two women, he said.

Mr. Trump is selecting from his list of 25 conservative judges, although the list includes Sen. Mike Lee, Utah Republican, who is an attorney but not a judge.

Asked about Mr. Lee, the president said, “He said he’d like the job. Usually they don’t say that.”
