Tiger Woods put a charge into the Quicken Loans National with a beautiful chip in from behind the 18th green, his ninth hole of the round, as he continued to climb the leaderboard Friday.

“I was hitting that shot in the practice round and it’s exactly the same shot,” Woods said. “And it was pretty sweet because I was just trying to hit kind of a high cut spinner in there and it worked out perfectly.”

Woods made four birdies and two bogeys on his opening nine to make the turn in 2-under par 33. He carded a 5-under 65 that moved him to 5-under for the event.
