Tiger Woods made a charge up the leaderboard Friday at the Quicken Loans National, as the 14-time major champion and tournament host made seven birdies and just two bogeys on the day.
His chip-in for birdie at No. 18 sent a huge roar through the gallery, and Woods followed it up with birdies at the first, second, and fifth holes. Two consecutive par saves from greenside bunkers on the final two holes helped Woods keep the round together down the stretch.
Woods looked more comfortable with his new putter Friday, as he made over 100 feet of putts after making just 48 feet of putts Thursday.
When he finished his round, Woods was tied for ninth and sat four shots behind leader Beau Hossler.
