BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Three men are in custody after a series of train burglaries in western New York.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Buffalo says the FBI was alerted in April to thefts on CSX rail line property. An investigation found three men had been watching the Buffalo rail yard from higher ground and when a train stopped to re-crew, they headed down and broke into rail cars.

Investigators say video surveillance showed several people stealing cases of cargo from CSX trains on 15 occasions since May.

Three Buffalo men were arrested Tuesday evening. Numerous packages were found hidden in nearby bushes and a search warrant turned up several cases of bourbon in a residence.

The investigation involved the FBI, CSX, Buffalo Police and West Seneca Police.
