Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden, defensive end Ryan Kerrigan and former tight end Chris Cooley played in the Quicken Loans National pro-am round Wednesday with PGA Tour pro Cody Gribble.
Certain moments of the round were clutch. For instance, on one of the grouping’s early holes, Ryan Kerrigan sank this shot from way off the side of the green and behind the ropes:

Other moments from the round showed why these Redskins made their living in football, not golf.
Kerrigan reportedly cut his knee on a golf cart sometime during the round:

Kerrigan laughed saying “it’s not as bad as it looks”

And not to cherry pick, but here’s Gruden playing his second shot on No. 9, the group’s final hole.

His tee shot put him by the first tee box; his approach ended up in the greenside bunker.
The first round of the Quicken Loans National tees off early Thursday morning.
