PLYMOUTH, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts teenager has been severely burned from hitting a high-voltage line while falling from a pole.

Fire officials say the 15-year-old boy was climbing the high tension wires at an Eversource substation in Plymouth shortly before 6 a.m. Tuesday.

He fell, hitting an 115,000-volt power line on his way down 20 feet.

Fire Chief Ed Bradley says the teen burned his clothes off in the fall, and was conscious when he was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital.

Eversource says electrical substations can be hazardous, and that the company urges everyone to stay away from them.

Eversource is a major residential energy provider in the state.
