INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The current owner of two horse track casinos near Indianapolis says it expects a disputed $50 million state fee will be paid as part of their sale to casino giant Caesars Entertainment.
Las Vegas-based Caesars and Centaur Gaming of Indianapolis fought paying the casino license transfer fee after the companies announced in November the $1.7 billion deal for Caesars to buy Hoosier Park in Anderson and Indiana Grand near Shelbyville.
Caesars had threatened to not build a new $90 million on-land facility for its Horseshoe Southern Indiana casino near Louisville, Kentucky, but began construction earlier this month.
Centaur general counsel John Keeler tells The Indianapolis Star that he anticipates the state will get the fee money.
The Indiana Gaming Commission is set to discuss the fee during its Thursday meeting.
