HYANNIS, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts woman has been charged with stealing items meant for an auction honoring a fallen police sergeant.

The Cape Cod Times reports 56-six-year-old Maureen Wiggin of Hyannis faces larceny charges when she allegedly stole a blue box containing golf balls, baseball hats, and shirts from a charity event honoring Yarmouth police K-9 Sgt. Sean Gannon. Gannon was shot and killed while serving a search warrant in April.

Barnstable police say witnesses reported the box missing from the ticketed fundraiser for the Yarmouth Police Department on Friday.

Officers say they have security footage showing Wiggin taking the item from the table. The box was found in her car. She was arrested at her home.

She will be summoned to Barnstable District court to face charges. An attorney for Wiggin could not be immediately identified.
