Public fascination with President Trump goes far beyond politics and right into the collectible world. On Saturday, a 300-pound boardroom table that Mr. Trump used during his days as an NBC reality TV star was sold at auction for $32,000. Officials at Julien’s Auctions — which staged the ’Hollywood Icons’ auction at the Planet Hollywood resort in Las Vegas — originally predicted the table would fetch around $16,000.
The Trump table, which has decorative inlays and other distinctive qualities, was featured in the auction with Star Wars hero Han Solo’s BlasTech DL-44 blaster from “Return of the Jedi,” which went for $550,000.
Anything “Trump” appears to have an intense following.
Last year, the auction house featured a small black magic-marker drawing by Mr. Trump on the public auction block. His simple rendering of a New York City building went for $16,000, and the sale made international headlines.
On Saturday, a Superman costume once worn by Christopher Reeve fetched $200,000 a dress belonging to Marilyn Monroe went for $50,000, and a 1970 Mercedes Benz which was part of Elvis Presley’s collection brought $187,000
“These pieces touched by these great Hollywood legends made an indelible mark on the lexicon of American pop culture,” said Darren Julien, president and CEO of the host organization.
