RENO, Nev. (AP) - A large distribution center for an international powersports company will be built just east of the Reno-Sparks metro area.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports Polaris announced Thursday that its 475,000-square-foot (441,289-square-meter) distribution center to be located in Fernley will employ up to 100 employees.

Polaris spokeswoman Jessica Rogers told the Reno Gazette-Journal in an email that the company chose northern Nevada as the site for its new facility because of its location, access to transportation routes and having a workforce tailored to the facility’s needs.

Polaris is an international powersports company that manufactures all-terrain vehicles, jet skis and snowmobiles, as well as mid-size and heavyweight motorcycles.

In addition to Polaris, the facility also will serve Transamerican Auto Parts and Kolpin customers.
